About Me
Welcome to my portfolio! I'm Emily Nicole Smith, a freelance journalist and a BA Journalism graduate from City, University of London. I currently work as a freelance content writer for Farfetch, an online designer fashion retailer. In this position I write editorial descriptions for various designer brands such as Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Valentino, Kenzo, Alexander McQueen and more.

As well as working on my journalistic career, I’m an avid music and fashion lover. I run my own fashion, beauty and lifestyle blog, Seventeen James and I write and produce my own music. I am also passionate about the arts, travel and sports whether it be watching, experiencing or writing about them.

Freelance Content Writer: Farfetch, June 2017 - May 2018
Work consisted of: writing editorial descriptions for both deprioritised and prioritised brands, including Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Valentino, Jimmy Choo, Kenzo, Alexander Wang and more.

Internship/Editorial Assistant: Taylor Magazine, November 2016 – June 2017
Work consisted of: managing and maintaining the main inbox, contact with writers, editing and scheduling posts, making quote images for social media, creating and maintaining the editorial and content calendar.

Internship: News1st, Maharaja Corporation, Sri Lanka, August 2015
Work consisted of: Scripting and editing stories, and creating video/audio packages for all major and minor TV and radio bulletins. Helped teach other new interns and employees how to use the digital programs such as Octopus and Incite Remote Producer.

I also participated in elective modules, Fashion & Lifestyle, Arts & Culture, Visual Journalism, Sports Journalism, Reporting Conflict and French.

High School: International Baccalaureate Diploma from The Overseas School of Colombo, Sri Lanka, January 2010 - May 2014
In the years that I studied at OSC, I took part in the Middle Years Programme and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. In my final two years, I selected English Literature, History and Visual Art as my higher level subjects, and French, Mathematical Studies and Biology as my standard level subjects. Alongside these, I studied Theory of Knowledge, participated in Creativity Action & Service and wrote an Extended Essay on the use of Twitter hashtags as a universal language.
