Sharp tailored PVC jackets overlaid on structured dresses and skirts took Miló Maria’s signature style to a new level.
On Friday evening at London Fashion Week, the new Autumn Winter 2017 collection was presented at the River Room, Kings College London. The room was set as a 1950’s style office full of models as working women, surrounded by scrunched paper on the floor, dollar bills and old cell phones the size of a brick.
There was something refreshing and alive about this presentation that was felt by the overflowing crowd the not-so-large room held. There was buzz from start to end, iPhones and cameras at the ready being able to get up close and personal with the models.
“The intimacy of this show makes me appreciate the clothes more than I would on a runway. I can see more the details more closely and just have more of an appreciate for Miló Maria’s work”, said Rachel, a fashion student.
The popping of champagne and mixing of mojitos at the bar in the corner of the room added that little extra to the whole event.

The old era setting was an accompaniment of the already historically influenced collection. The jackets and knitwear paired with a-line skater skirts and socks with heeled sandals were an effortless combination. The pieces varied in texture and structures, with aspects of new and old trends; Victorian collars, oversized cuffs and asymmetrical hems.
Miló Maria is known for its sophisticated, simplistic collections and with their third collection, it can be said that the designer has taken a step further.
The collection took a lighter colour scheme of pinks, greys and whites with splashes of black, khaki and red. The minimalistic style managed a boldness that any fashion lover can appreciate.
The models were able to show this not solely through the clothing, but through their attitudes and movement. Unlike a typical runway, the models were able to have fun whilst playing their role of an office worker by moving around the room constantly, using those bricks to make phone calls, speak to other models.
Though still a relatively new designer in the fashion world, Miló Maria has gained a fan in Lady Gaga who has recently been spotted in their signature powder blue waterfall coat during her tour. The designer’s work has also been seen on Destiny’s Child singer, Michelle Williams on a few occasions.
Miló Maria’s collections have given women’s clothing a less gender-specific stance and this latest collection has been able to give a new outlook on work wear; a serious yet 2stunning look to conquer any profession.
